Meet the Quilter

From a young age, I always loved to sew. I borrowed my mother’s Singer Featherweight and never returned it. From doll clothes to my clothes and eventually all my mother’s clothes.  I always enjoyed the art of creating something from a piece of cloth. It was only natural that I progressed to quilting in the 1990’s and fell in love with more color and patterns that I could have ever have imagined. I was working full time (in a corporate job) but looked forward to coming home every day to surround myself with fabric and making beautiful quilts.

By 2011, I had 35 quilt tops ready to be quilted. I was diligently working on quilting them using my home sewing machine but it was taking weeks to get even one quilt completed.  I rationalized that at the current pace I would be 85 years old before I finished and decided to purchase a Handiquilter Fusion with a Prostitcher. A whole new world opened up to me. So many beautiful designs with the ability to complete a quilt quickly.  Well, the 35 quilts got finished and then I moved on to quilting for friends and for charity.

After 40 years in the Corporate world I retired in the Spring of 2016, moved to Washington State to be close to family and now work full time finishing quilts. I specialize in computer guided edge to edge designs. I have a studio at my home in Washington.  After moving to Gig Harbor in July 2018, I purchased a Handiquilter Forte with a Prostitcher and now have two longarm machines for the business.

My home is in Gig Harbor in Pierce County, Washington.  Every day I wake up to fresh air, beautiful trees, sounds of the birds and the joy of spending another day quilting on my longarm to help someone “finally complete” their special quilt.
